Henry Corbin met Jung on many occasions, before taking over from him, at the meetings in Ascona, in Italian-speaking Switzerland, where the world's greatest specialists in religious experience met for years, such as Mircea Eliade, Hermann Hesse, Gilbert Durand, Gershom Scholem, etc. These are his completely unpublished texts on Jung's relationship to Buddhist thought that we find in this book. Henry Corbin's widow, before her death, when giving these documents to Michel Cazenave, had wanted a certain number of annexes to be added that had not been published until then, and in particular, what he had written, after the publication of Jung's Answer to Job, on the figure of Sophia, divine Wisdom, in the latter. The pages found here induce another reading of Jung that, it seems, no one will be able to do without in the future. Henri Corbin (1903-1978), director of studies at the Ecole pratique des hautes études from 1954 to 1974, was one of the most important French philosophers and orientalists of the 20th century. His work, centered on the knowledge of Islamic spirituality, but developed in the context of the three monotheistic religions, includes many studies on rites and translations and editions of unpublished ancient Arabic and Persian texts."
