The environment in which Little Black Fish opens his eyes to the world is similar to the society in which Samad Behrangi lives. Ignorance reigns here. Little Black Fish finds the courage to leave the environment of inertia, ignoring neither his mother's pleas nor his neighbors' scoldings. His action encourages other small fish. They say after the Little Black Fish: "You woke us up from our sleep."
