في هذِهِ الحِكاياتِ الشَّعبِيَّةِ الآتِيَةِ مِنَ الشَّرقِ، لَيسَ نادِرًا أَن تُقَرِّرَ عَفاريتُ غَريبَةٌ مَصيرَ أَحياءٍ، وَلا أَن تَبدَأَ حَيَواناتٌ وَديعَةٌ بِالفَلسَفَةِ كَأَسيادِها… والحَياةُ مُذهِلَةٌ لِلغايَةِ أَحيانًا، بِحَيثُ لا يَبدو عجيبًا أَن تَرى رَجُلًا فَقيرًا يُصبِحُ أَفضَلَ صَديقٍ لِرَجُلٍ نافِذٍ.
جِحا شَخصِيَّةٌ بارِزَةٌ في عَدَدٍ كَبيرٍ مِن هذِهِ الـمُغامَراتِ، وَهوَ يُشبِهُ هذا العالَمَ الـمُحَيِّرَ: إنَّهُ شُجاعٌ وَجَبانٌ، ماكِرٌ وَساذَجٌ، مُحتالٌ وَنَزيهٌ، يُسَيِّرُ حَياتَهُ كَيفَما تَيَسَّرَ، وَيَبدو دائِمًا صَعبَ الفَهمِ؛ لكِنَّهُ عَلى الرَّغمِ مِن ذلِكَ، لا يَنسى مُطلَقًا أَن يَبقى إنسانِيًّا.
