Forty Tales is a curated selection of Iranian folk stories compiled and retold by Manouchehr Karimzadeh. Drawn from oral traditions collected over the past fifty years, the stories are rewritten in accessible prose while preserving their original spirit and narrative flow. The tales are categorized into six thematic groups: national, moral, fairy and jinn, humorous, animal, and chain stories. Supplementary tables at the end of the book provide insights into each tale’s theme, message, and folkloric structure. A glossary of colloquial expressions is also included to help readers—especially Persian speakers living abroad—better understand the cultural nuances embedded in the stories.

کتاب چهل قصه گزیده‌ای از قصه‌های عامیانه ایرانی است که در نیم قرن اخیر گردآوری و بازنویسی شده‌اند. منوچهر کریم‌زاده با نثری ساده و روان، تلاش کرده است تا قصه‌هایی را انتخاب کند که عناصر داستانی متنوع، تازه و جذاب داشته باشند، بی‌آن‌که حال‌وهوای سنتی و چرخش طبیعی حوادث آن‌ها آسیب ببیند. قصه‌ها در شش گروه طبقه‌بندی شده‌اند: ملی، اخلاقی، جن و پری، فکاهی، حیوانات، و زنجیره‌ای. در پایان کتاب، جدول‌هایی برای معرفی پیام، درون‌مایه، نوع و بن‌مایه هر قصه آمده است، و همچنین فرهنگ اصطلاحات عامیانه برای مخاطبانی که از حوزه فرهنگی خود دور افتاده‌اند، تدوین شده است.
