The author writes in the introduction to this research work: In addition to familiarizing himself with the theories of Mikhail Chekhov and the introduction and history of psychological gesture, this book examines the concepts and mechanisms of psychological gesture and its function in guiding the actor to achieve a new mise-en-scene and character de-familiarity. Also, after introducing and understanding Euripides2 and Jean Anouilh3, the character of Medea in their plays is examined from the perspective of psychological gesture and how to de-familiarise and transform the character as an example.

نویسنده در مقدمه این اثر پژوهشی چنین نگاشته است: در اين کتاب علاوه ‌بر آشنایی با نظریات «میخاییل چخوف» و معرفی و تاریخچه ژست روانی، به مفاهیم و سازوکارهاي ژست روانی و کارکرد آن در هدایت بازیگر، برای رسیدن به میزانسن جدید و آشنازدایی شخصیت پرداخته شده است. همچنین بعد از معرفی و شناخت «اوریپید»2 و «ژان آنوی»3، شخصیت «مده‌آ» در نمایشنامه‌های آنها از منظر ژست روانی و چگونگی آشنازدایی و تحول شخصیت به عنوان نمونه، مورد بررسی قرار گرفته است.
