این کتاب، مجموعه یاداشت هایی است که نویسنده در سفر آخر خود به خارج از کشور نوشته است و بخش اعظم آن انعکاس مسائل جاری ایران در رسانه های جهانی و نکات برجسته کتاب هایی را که به تازگی درباره ایران در خارج منتشر شده است، در بر می گیرد.
در این سفر که در اواخر سال 1390 تا آبان 1391 به طول انجامیده، مسائل ایران را از طریق مطبوعات، رادیو، تلویزیون و اینترنت که جامع ترین و فراگیرترین رسانه هاست دنبال شده است.
بخش پایانی کتاب تحت عنوان «پیوست ها» می باشد. مطالب این بخش مربوط به سه نویسنده، احسان نراقی، احسان طبری و شاهرخ مسکوب است.
