The present article is dedicated to introducing and examining the process of metaphor from a perceptive perspective. The author's effort is to review the leading studies on metaphor, to criticize this group of studies to introduce his desired concept. This assumption is based on the basis that metaphor is not essentially a process of replacing one unit with another unit, but as permitted, it is interpreted in terms of finding and the performance of a process called reduction.

نوشته‌ی حاضر، به معرفی و بررسی فرآیند استعاره از منظری ادراکی اختصاص یافته است. کوشش نویسنده بر این است تا پس از بررسی مطالعات پیشرو در باب استعاره، به نقد این دسته از پژوهشها بپردازد تا از این طریق به سراغ معرفی انگاره ی مورد نظر خود برود. این فرض بر این پایه استوار است که استعاره اساسا فرآیند جایگزینی واحدی به جای واحدی دیگر نیست، بلکه همچون مجاز، بر حسب یافت و عملکرد فرآیندی به نام کاهش، امکان تعبیر مییابد.
