Cult is the story of a university professor and how he discovered a lost film from the history of Iranian cinema. This novel is faced with two narratives that narrate their lives in a real fictional form. In a part of this book, we read: A scream in my head interrupted my sentence. What was this I wanted to say? What was this word that he did not hear, did he understand? This man had spent his whole life, at least for as long as I could remember, for me to live the way I wanted. Every book, every movie, every way of life I chose was acceptable to him. Now the punishment for the rare freedom he had given me was to remind him of death? To criticize him, why is he mourning his mother the way he wants and not the way I expect?

کالت داستان یک استاد حق التدریسی دانشگاه و نحوه کشف فیلمی گم شده از تاریخ سینمای ایران توسط اوست. این رمان با دو روایت روبه روست که به شکل خیالی واقعی، زندگی خود را روایت می کنند. در قسمتی از این کتاب می خوانیم: فریادی توی سرم جمله ام را برید. این چه حرفی بود که می خواستم بزنم؟ این چه حرفی بود که او نشنیده فهمید؟ این مرد تمام زندگی اش را، دست کم از آن ایامی که من یادم بود، پای این گذاشته بود که من آن طور که خودم می خواهم زندگی کنم. هرکتابی، هر فیلمی، هر روشی برای زندگی که من انتخاب می کردم از نظر او قابل قبول بود. حالا سزای آزادی کمیابی که به من بخشیده بود این بود که مرگ را بهش یادآوری کنم؟ که ازش خرده بگیرم چرا آن طور که خودش می خواهد به عزای مادر نشسته و نه به آن شیوه که من انتظار دارم؟
