With the extension of the right to vote to the lower social classes, which was among the most important demands of the socialist parties of Western Europe, how to use this right, they faced a problem that they were able to solve only by abandoning the claim of representing the working class. However, their electoral politics faced another problem; Easy and restrained, but with much deeper consequences. The fact was that despite the ever-increasing expansion of the industry, the prospect of the workers becoming the majority of society was getting fainter and dumber every day, and now obtaining that majority necessary to make fundamental changes required the mobilization of other parts of the society, which did not necessarily share all of their interests with the workers, nor necessarily a desire to do so. To do that, they had fundamental changes. By examining the distribution of preferences of these parties in different electoral periods, this book provides a careful analysis of the strategies that each of them chose in different periods of their political life to solve this second problem. The method, due to the more or less similar function of political parties and currents, can be used to evaluate the performance of those organized political forces that have a relatively high durability in the political scene of their country.
