Sīyāsat'hā-yi khiābānī: Persian 1402

In the late 1970s and mid-1980s, an active political movement was launched in the streets of Iran's big cities. The destitute people, who were considered from the oppressed and lower class of society, started to build communities for their type of stratum, using the barren and desolate lands. In these constructions, all the necessary infrastructures, including roads, electricity, piped water, garbage collection, and shelters, were all foreseen and prepared by the activists of this movement. After the Iranian government found out about these illegal constructions, it tried to evacuate those areas, but the people resisted the government after enduring many difficulties. A resistance that led to success, a success that was self-made and spontaneous, even though it involved paying huge financial and living costs. The book "Street Politics" is a collection of stories and an analysis of the political and economic strategies that this movement used on its way to success. In this book, focusing on the pre-revolution period and the first decade of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the author discusses and analyzes the strategy of ordinary people (Iranians), especially in Tehran. Through his analysis and citations, he shows that this process, at least for this group, has not established any of the demands and changes they expected and has not fulfilled their needs.
