As we were moving along the coast and looking for new routes, we came across a Spaniard who had fallen asleep by the shore in an area called Tarapaca. Next to the Spanish man, there were thirteen silver bars worth approximately four thousand Spanish ducats. We didn't want to disturb his sleep. But we wanted to get rid of the burden of silver, so we made him continue his dream of a better world. Then we took his silver, which, to be honest, did not belong to him either.

همین طور که در امتداد ساحل پیش میرفتیم و در جست وجوی مسیرهای تازه بودیم در منطقه ای به نام تاراپاکا به یک اسپانیایی رسیدیم که کنار ساحل به خواب رفته بود. کنار مرد اسپانیایی سیزده شمش نقره قرار داشت که تقریباً چهارهزار دوکای اسپانیایی می ارزید ما نمیخواستیم چرت او را پاره کنیم؛ اما میخواستیم از بارسنگین نقره ها خلاصش کنیم به همین خاطر کاری کردیم که دنباله خوابش را در دنیای بهتری ادامه دهد. بعد نقره هایش را برداشتیم که راستش را بخواهید متعلق به او هم نبود.
