Bozorg Alavi and Bahram Sadeghi have nothing in common. One was sociable, the other was not. One was a member of friendship and camaraderie, the other was a fugitive from every club. One was from Modara, the other was not. One liked to write a novel and wrote short stories, and the other had no intention of writing a novel. What was wrong with it? بزرگ علوی و بهرام صادقی هیچ شباهتی به هم ندارند. یکی اهل معاشرت بود، دیگری نبود. یکی اهل محفل و دوستی و رفاقت بود، دیگری از هر محفل و دار و دسته‌ای فراری بود. یکی اهل مُدارا بود، دیگری نبود. یکی دوست داشت رمان بنویسد و داستان‌ کوتاه می‌نوشت و آن دیگری سودای رمان در سر نداشت. چه عیبی داشت؟ اصل ماجرا قصّه بود و هر دو می‌دانیم قصّه‌گو بودند. اما زمانه به هیچ کدام فرصت کافی نداد... و این هم شاید وجه مشترک دیگری‌ باشد که می‌شود میان این دو نفر پیدا کرد. نه فقط شاید. بل که لابد و بدون شک. به شرطی که به روزگاری که از سر گذراندند و به دستاوردهای هر دو از نزدیک و به دقّت نگاه کنیم.
