داستان، مهتاب دره اي را كه روستا در آن قرار داشت روشن كرده بود. در گوشه اي از حياط، سلمان تنها ايستاده بود و زير لب آهنگي قديمي و نا آشنا را مي خواند. سايه اش دو يا سه برار خودش بود و بچه مي توانستند تفنگي كه بر روي دوشش انداخته را ببينند. او مو هاي بوري دارد كه مثل خارهاي جوجه تيغي ايستاده بودند با چشماني سبز و زهردار.
