The stories describe the hypocrisy and the violence in Afghanistan during and after the war, and how so many limitations have affected their lives and behavior. “There were eight of us that did not have legs”, as the name implies, is the story of eight officers who have no legs, and have to take care of the place at the top of the hill. An old man provides food, cigarettes and “Hashish” for them. They use the “Hashish” in so great amount, that they become very violent, and lose control. They rape another young boy who has no legs like them, until he dies. Although the writer describes the rape scene, the story can very clearly show the consequences of poverty, war, and limitations.
