This history of film and film-making in Iran consists of an analytical background chapter on the development of modern cinema in 20th century Iran followed by separate extensive interview chapters with Abbas Kiarostami, Bahram Beiza'i, Bahman Farmanara, and Mohsen Makhmalbaf. There is a chapter on Iranian women in film and a concluding chapter on developing trends for the future in view of globalization of the cinema art. Includes filmography and bibliographic notes.
