تتناول الرواية سيرة شخصية مركبة لبطلها "ينال"، الذي يعمل مترجمًا في قناة فضائية قبل أن يُختطف ويُعذّب ويُفصل من عمله بتهمة ملفقة، بهدف الاستيلاء على منزله. تدفعه هذه الأحداث إلى الهجرة نحو إسبانيا، حيث يتحول إلى تاجر أسلحة كبير، يعيش صراعًا داخليًا بين الثأر والندم، وبين القوة والانكسار. الرواية تتسم ببنية ميتاسردية، حيث تتداخل فيها روايتان: سرد الراوي المركزي، ومخطوطة كتبها "ينال" نفسه، مما يضفي تعددية صوتية على النص. العنوان "ينال" يحمل دلالة مزدوجة: فهو اسم البطل، وفعل مضارع يشير إلى الحاضر، ويعكس صراع الإنسان مع واقعه، وسعيه نحو تحقيق الذات وسط عالم متناقض.
