خواجه نصیرالدین طوسی از کودکی به یادگیری و کشف چیزهای تازه علاقه ی زیادی داشت و به خاطر تلاش و پشتکارش در یادگیری علم، از بزرگترین دانشمندان جهان شد. او با تدبیری که داشت به دربار حاکم خونریز مغول راه پیدا کرد، جنگ‌ها و خونریزی‌ها را مهار کرد و با قدرتی که به دست آورده بود، برای رشد و پیشرفت علم و فرهنگ و تمدن ایران، یک عالمه کارهای شگفت‌انگیز کرد؛ کتاب‌های زیادی نوشت، کتاب‌های زیادی را از نابودی نجات داد و کتابخانه های بزرگی درست کرد. تأسیس رصدخانه ی مراغه از مهمترین خدمات خواجه نصیرالدین طوسی است.
