Assyrian poet and writer of Iraqi descent, born in Baghdad. He completed his studies at Baghdad University and Wayne State University in America and now teaches Arabic language and literature at Oakland University. Mikhail began writing at an early age and has won many awards for his work, including the Guggenheim, Knights Foundation, Krysky, PEN, and the Arab/American Book Award. The novel "In the Market of Prisoners" was published in 2017, it was one of the best-selling books of that year in America, and soon it was published in several other languages. This novel is the story of girls who were captured by ISIS and managed to escape. "One day, when Jamila went to Cheshma to meet her fiance, she was captured by ISIS before she arrived. They took him to Tal Afar and from there they bought and sold him like other captives. Jamila was like a mountain of anger and tried her best not to allow anyone to rape her.

شاعر و نویسنده‌ی آشوری تبار عراقی، متولد بغداد. تحصیلاتش را در دانشگاه بغداد و دانشگاه وین استیت امریکا به پایان رساند و اکنون در دانشگاه اوکلند، زبان و ادبیات عربی تدریس می‌کند. میخائیل نوشتن را از سنین پایین آغاز کرد و با آثارش جوایز زیادی را برنده شد، از جمله گوگنهایم، نایتز فاوندیشن، کریسکی، پِن و جایزه‌ی کتاب عربی/امریکایی. رمان «در بازار اسیران» سال 2017 منتشر شد، یکی از پرفروش‌ترین کتاب‌های آن سال امریکا بود و خیلی زود به چند زبان دیگر انتشار یافت. این رمان، ماجرای دخترانی است که اسیر داعش بودند و موفق به فرار شدند. «یک روز که جمیله برای دیدار نامزدش به سمت چشمه رفته بود، پیش از این که برسد، اسیر داعشی‌ها شد. او را به تلعفر بردند و از آنجا هم او را مثل سایر اسیرها خرید و فروش کردند. جمیله مثل کوهی از خشم شده بود و تمام تلاشش را می‌کرد که اجازه ندهد کسی به او تجاوز کند.»
