رمان نمایشگاه 58، دهمین اثر جاناتان کو، رمانی پر کشش است و در آن ماجراهای توماس فولی روایت می شود که در سال 1958، از طرف کشور انگلستان، در نمایشگاه بروکسل شرکت می کند؛ یعنی در اولین گردهمایی بین المللی بعد از جنگ جهانی دوم. او، که در لندن زن و بچه دارد، به خاطر شرایط پیش آمده، زندگی لندنی اش را با زندگی در محیط نمایشگاه در تضاد کامل می بیند و مدام در تکاپو است تا جایگاه واقعی خودش را پیدا کند. در این بین، مداخله ی عجیب سرویس جاسوسی انگلستان در زندگی اش او را به سویی می کشاند که پیش از آن تصورش را هم نمی کرد. نمایشگاه 58 از طرفی به تأثیرات دنیای مدرن بر زندگی انسان و ظهور تسلیحات هسته ای می پردازد که در آن دوره زمینه ساز نگرانی های شدید شده بود، و از طرفی روابطی خانوادگی و عشقی را نشان می دهد که به خاطر ماجراجویی های سرویس های مخفی کشورهای مختلف دستخوش تغییر می شوند. ................................... حالا راجع به این دختری که توی بروکسله چی می خوای به من بگی؟ می خوای بگی قراره همه چیز رو ول کنی و بری با اون زندگی کنی؟ توی بلژیک؟ عقلت رو از دست دادی؟ اصلاً از کجا می دونی اون هم همین رو می خواد؟ وقتی هزاران غریبه از همه جای دنیا توی یه جای عجیب و غریب مثل اونجا دور هم جمع می شن، معلومه از این اتفاقات احمقانه می افته. حتی همین الان هم ممکنه از کاری که کردین پشیمون شده باشه. شاید همین الان هم داره به خودش می گه چه کار احمقانه ای کردم، دیگه نباید تکرارش کنم و حق هم داشته باشه. من هم دارم بهت می گم کاملاً فراموشش کنی. اون اصلاً مهم نیست، زنت مهمه، بچه ت مهمه، خونواده ت مهمه، معلومه الان خوشحال نیستی، چون احمقی، اما اوضاع عوض می شه. این احساساتت هم می گذرن. هر بار که کلمه ی احمق را به زبان می آورد، این واژه مثل بمب در سرش می ترکید. هیچ چیز نگفت، فقط اجازه داد تا کلمات آرام بگیرند و ته نشین شوند تا معنی شان آشکار شود.
