Shahrzad who came from Kirman to Tehran narrates the story. She falls in love with a middle age and depress editor that his friends and relatives abuse his psychic situation. After a while, he falls in love with Shahrzad and they decide to marry, but others meddling and their way of life change. In the end chapter the reader face with a different subject instead that Shahrzad has told. The reader finds that there is an obvious difference between the reality and the situation that Shahrzad wants.

داستان از زبان دختري روايت مي شود به نام "شهرزاد" كه از كرمان به تهران آمده است. او دلباخته ويراستار ميانه سال و افسرده اي مي شود كه اطرافيان از وضع روحي او سوء استفاده مي كنند. پس از چندي، ويراستار كم كم به شهرزاد علاقه مند مي شود و با هم قرار ازدواج مي گذارند، اما دخالت افرادي كه به سعادت آنها رشك مي برند، مسير زندگي اشان را تغيير مي دهد. در فصل پاياني رمان، خواننده با موضوعي به كلي متفاوت با آنچه شهرزاد روايت كرده، مواجه مي شود. او پي مي برد كه بين "واقعيت" از يك سو و موقعيت دلخواه شهرزاد از سوي ديگر تضادي آشكار، وجود داشته است.
