In today's world, people feel freedom, excitement, confusion and even complete contradiction. Friendships and relationships have become easier in many ways than in the past thanks to countless innovations in new media and the Internet and the online world, but, at the same time, we have seen violent crimes, terrorism, war, and long-lasting social inequality. Technology advances at an increasing speed and creates new opportunities and possibilities, but on the other hand, concern about the destructive effect of modern life on the natural environment and global warming and environmental erosion is spreading. The lives of most people in relatively rich countries are materially better than in the past, but in other parts of the world millions of people live in poverty and children die of hunger and lack of clean water and basic life facilities. Sociology is the scientific study of human life and social groups and entire societies and an effort to understand and recognize these changes and human response to these changes. Sociology shows us how this world came to be and why our life situation is very different from the life of our ancestors. Sociology is a science that plays a fundamental role in modern intellectual life and helps us make the world a better world.
