Although art is the birth of the artist's personality, to understand art, one must turn to society. Because everyone's personality is mainly created by his social environment, and it includes many different factors. Which of the factors should be considered first and which should be counted as the last? According to the methods of sociology, I tried to first find the most effective factor among the various factors of society, which can be considered as the foundation or concept or criterion of social analysis, and then explain the arts by means of it.

گرچه هنر زاده شخصیت هنرمند است، برای شناخت هنر باید به جامعه روی آورد. زیرا شخصیت هرکس عمدتا ساخته و پرداخته محیط اجتماعی اوست، و عامل های گوناگون فراوانی را در برمی گیرد. باید کدام یک از عامل ها را مقدم و کدام را تالی شمرد؟ مطابق شیوه های جامعه شناسی درصدد برآمدم که نخست از میان عامل های گوناگون جامعه، موثرترین عامل را که می تواند بنیاد یا انگاره یا ملاک تحلیل اجتماعی شمرده شود، بیابم و سپس به وسیله آن، به تبیین هنرها بپردازم.
