The book "Kit's Wilderness" is a novel written by David Almond, which was first published in 1999. Kate has just moved with her family to Stony Gate to live with her elderly grandfather who is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. "Stoney Gate" is a small area where the mining work has caused many fatal accidents for the residents. But in this area, where there used to be a coal mine, now there is a large plain.
