The beginning of the application of cognitive theories in examining and analyzing the nature and function and reception of works of art dates back to the 1960s and 1970s. This approach, of course, has played a significant role in the formation and consistency of attitudes such as neoformalism. However, the focus of this approach on narration and narration has gained more momentum and intensity in the early years of the 21st century, the obvious examples of which are the writings of Kendall Walton and the author of this book, Gregory Cory.
