گلاویز شدیم. پیرزنِ پُرزوری بود و مثلِ مردِ جوانی قدرت داشت. تفنگ را به‌زور از دستش گرفتم. کوتاه نمی‌آمد، هلش دادم. تا آمدم از دست یا لباسش بگیرم و نگذارم بیفتد، کلُه‌پا شد و با سر رفت تهِ دره. بهتم زده بود. دولا شدم بلکه ببینم کجا افتاده. خدا می‌داند چقدر استخوان و اسکلتِ سفیدِ آدمیزاد روی هم افتاده بود و زیرِ نورِ ماهِ شب چهارده برق می‌زد. دل‌پیچه گرفتم و همان‌جا بالا آوردم. رفتم سیاه‌چادرِ پیرزن تا لنگه‌گیوه‌ام را بردارم. گونیِ آردی بزرگی پر از لنگه‌های چپ‌پای اُرسی و گیوه و پوتین سربازی گوشه‌ی چادر راست ایستاده بود.
