While Freud was developing psychoanalysis in Vienna, Wittgenstein was living in that city and dealing with people who were either being treated with these new ideas or were being "tested on." Wittgenstein himself had experienced hypnosis and was familiar with most of Freud's works such as "The Interpretation of Dreams". Rush Reese says: "Wittgenstein called himself a "disciple or follower of Freud", but it seems that this claim did not protect Freud from Wittgenstein's serious criticism of Freudian psychoanalysis."
