"For a long time, we have thought of writing a history of our revolution that would embrace its multiple aspects and facets. The leaders of this epic have often spoken - publicly or unofficially - of their desire to retrace the different events that marked it, but time makes them default; and the memory of the insurrectionary struggle dissolves over the years in the mists of the past without the episodes of this adventure, which is nevertheless part of the history of America, being recounted in written testimony. we therefore began to gather our memories of the attacks, skirmishes, fights, and struggles that we have led. We do not intend to reconstruct this story using fragments of memories and a few notes taken here over there; on the contrary, we want it to be told in its entirety by those who experienced it.
