کارلوس گوسن متولد نهم ماه مارس 1954 در شهر پورتو ویلا واقع در کشور برزیل، اصلیتی فرانسوی، لبنانی و برزیلی داشته و هم اکنون عهده دار مسئولیت ریاست هیأت  مدیره و مدیرعاملی شرکت  های رنو و نیسان و رئیس هیأت  مدیرۀ شرکت خودروسازی روسی به نام آوتوواز است. گوسن درعین حال رئیس هیأت مدیرۀ شرکت مشترک رنو نیسان نیز هست. این مشارکت به اتفاق آوتوواز، روی هم رفته طی سال های 2010 تا 2014 حدود 10 % از بازار جهانی خودرو را در اختیار داشته و در سال 2014 یکی از چهار شرکت خودروساز برتر جهانی بوده است. گوسن پس از آن که شرکت رنو را به صورتی اساسی بازسازی و آن را سودآور کرد، در اواخر سال 1999 ملقب به «قاتل هزینه ها» شد و در اوایل سال 2000 به خاطر تلاش مجدانه ای که در زمینۀ احیا و بازسازی شرکت نیسان که در سال 1999 به مرحلۀ ورشکستگی رسیده بود، به عمل آورد، کنیۀ «آقای اصلاح ساز» به وی داده شد.
