The history of cultural developments of the Safavid era, despite the number of studies, is still a fresh and new topic. Actually, many different aspects of the situation and cultural and social issues of the Safavid era are still awaiting the attention of researchers despite the presence of many sources. Based on this and considering such issues, this book is an attempt to fill a part of the neglected fields of research in the Safavid era. The book is organized into two major sections. The first part is a detailed report of the studies conducted on the cultural developments of the Safavid era, which can open new perspectives for the reader. The second part is the articles and notes that have been compiled and arranged based on the new and less-seen cultural aspects of the Safavid era, with the hope of opening new doors to this period.

تاریخ تحولات فرهنگی عصر صفویه با وجود شمار مطالعات فراوان، همچنان موضوعی بکر و تازه است. به واقع جنبه‌های مختلف و متعددی از اوضاع و مسائل فرهنگی و اجتماعی عصر صفویه با وجود منابع بسیار، همچنان در انتظار توجه پژوهشگران است. بر همین اساس و با توجه به چنین مسائلی، کتاب حاضر تلاشی است برای پر کردن بخشی از عرصه‌های مغفول ماندۀ پژوهشی در عصر صفوی. کتاب در دو بخش کلان سامان یافته است. بخش نخست گزارشی تفصیلی از مطالعات انجام شده در باب تحولات فرهنگی عصر صفویه است که خود می‌تواند چشم‌ندازهای تازه‌ای فراروی خواننده بگشاید. بخش دوم مقالات و یادداشت‌هایی است که با تکیه بر جنبه‌های تازه و کمتر دیده شدۀ فرهنگی عصر صفویه، با امید به گشودن دریچه‌های تازه به این دوره تدوین و تنظیم شده است.
