When you worked in television in Kyiv, it all seemed like the typical life of the creative class. But then, suddenly, you were fired, and everything fell apart. You have no choice but to return to your hometown of Kharkiv, where, with the help of old friends, you manage to get a job as a projectionist at an old movie theater on the outskirts of the city. Screening films at the struggling “Kosmos” cinema is far from a dream job, but for now there is no alternative.

Soon it becomes clear that there is something strange about the cinema, and the fire that once broke out there was no accident. What will happen to it now? Who wants to take it over, and why?

Despite the difficult times, “Kosmos” draws many things into its orbit: movie screenings and private parties, people from the past, an old childhood diary... And amid all these twists and turns are the protagonist’s complicated relationship with the city where he grew up and his attempts to understand the person he has become.
