One of the most effective and lethal instruments at fate’s disposal, which it wields with ruthless precision, is the violence we humans inflict upon one another—often without reflecting on its tragic and deadly consequences. Violence shatters lives. Violence sends human beings into the realm of nonexistence. And in doing so, it seems to fulfill the dark satisfaction of fate.
