Būstān of Saʿdī, also known as Saʿdī-nāmeh, is Saʿdī’s first major work composed entirely in verse. He wrote it while traveling and presented it to his friends upon his return to Shiraz.
The work is written in the mathnavi form and composed in the mutaqārib meter (faʿūlun), which gives it a formally epic rhythm and structure. However, despite its epic poetic form, the Būstān is primarily devoted to themes of ethics, moral education, politics, and social conduct, offering practical wisdom and moral guidance rather than heroic narrative.

بوستان سعدی یا سعدینامه، نخستین اثر سعدی است که بهصورت نظم تألیف شدهاست. او این اثر را زمانی که در سفر بودهاست، سروده و هنگام بازگشت به شیراز، آن را به دوستانش عرضه کردهاست. این اثر در قالب مثنوی و در بحر متقارب (فعولن) سروده شده و از نظر قالب و وزن شعری «حماسی» است، هر چند که از نظر محتوا به اخلاق و تربیت و سیاست و اجتماعیات پرداختهاست.
