On his first day at the University of Oslo, Albert notices a girl in front of the coffee machine. The girl, Eirin, notices Albert back. They fall in love. Their next encounter leads them to the Fairy Tale House, a secluded house that further confirms their feelings of love. Thirty-seven years later, while Eirin is at a biology congress in Melbourne, Albert receives a creepy message from his ex-girlfriend, Marianne. The message shakes Albert's life so much that he decides to retreat to the Fairy Tale House and calm down. Here, Albert gives himself a 24-hour deadline to write about his life with Eirin. After that, Albert must make the most important decision of his life.
