Today, new modes of production have emerged in all the major economies of the world. The simplest and most telling of its many names is the knowledge-based economy. At present, the knowledge economy is an insular and marginal part of the economy. The knowledge-based economy promises to change some of the most profound and global features of economic life and to dramatically increase productivity and growth, and its effects have already been proven.
