This book is written in the field of the history of Iranian Sufism and the description of the Sufis of this land. The author's goal in writing the book is to represent the value and importance of Sufism in the horizon of Iranian culture. Zarrinkoob believes that despite some decadent elements mixed with superstition that are seen in some places in the teachings of some Sufis, Sufism has given a transcendent and humanitarian insight and leap to a major part of Iranian culture in the field of ethics and education and in dealing with social realities, which cannot be underestimated because of some negative aspects in it. Zarrinkoob believes that without searching in Iranian Sufism, familiarity with all the unknown horizons of Iranian culture will be incomplete. He does not consider even the Islamic world, in its vast dimensions, to be properly evaluated without recognizing the characteristics of its human dimension, i.e. Sufism.
