Poetry takes its motifs from life (and art); The search for models is in art (and life). Perhaps this is enough to define the difference: the contradiction of an essay is almost like the contradiction of a portrait... In front of a landscape painting, we never ask ourselves whether this mountain or that river is really as it is painted or not, but in front of every portrait painting the question of similarity always comes to our mind willingly or unwillingly... Despite its simplicity and superficiality, this issue drives true artists to despair.

شعر موتیف‌های خود را از زندگی (و هنر) می‌گیرد؛ جستار الگوهایش در هنر (و زندگی) است. شاید این برای تعریف تفاوت کافی باشد: تناقض‌مندی جستار تقریباً مانند تناقض‌مندی پرتره است… در برابر تابلوی منظره ما هیچ‌گاه از خودمان نمی‌پرسیم که آیا این کوهستان یا آن رودخانه واقعاً همان‌طور است که نقاشی شده است یا نه، اما در برابر هر تابلوی پرتره مسئله‌ی شباهت همواره خواسته و ناخواسته به ذهن ما خطور می‌کند… این مسئله به‌رغم سادگی و سطحی بودنش هنرمندان راستین را به استیصال می‌کشاند.
