Hannan al-Sheikh (born in 1945), a famous Lebanese writer living in England, has published influential works in the field of social issues in the Arab world. One of the most famous of these works is the novel Nafeh (Mesk al-Ghazal), in which the author reveals the corruption of morals in the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf by relying on four female narrators. Edward Said, a prominent Palestinian thinker and professor, believes that the images in Nafe's novel are so clear that they take the reader's breath away.

از حنّان الشیخ (متولد ۱۹۴۵) نویسنده‌ی سرشناس لبنانی و ساکن انگلستان، آثار تأثیرگذاری در حوزه‌ی مسائل اجتماعی جهان عربی منتشر شده است. یکی از پُرشهرت‌ترین این آثار، رمان نافه (مِسک الغزال) است که در آن، نویسنده با تکیه بر چهار راوی زن از تباهی اخلاق در کشورهای عربی حوزه‌ی خلیج فارس پرده برمی‌دارد. ادوارد سعید، استاد و اندیشه‌مند برجسته‌ی فلسطینی‌تبار، بر این باور است که تصویرهای رمان نافه چنان صریح است که نفس خواننده را می‌بُرد.
