Heidegger believes that man is a unique being whose existence has the characteristic of being open to existence. But humans, on the other hand, may distance themselves from existence, forget their true self and, as a result, deprive themselves of their humanity. According to Heidegger, this is the situation of contemporary people who have replaced the original questioning about their existence with the ready-made answers that ideologies, mass media and modern technological culture make for them. As a result, Heidegger tries to turn existence into a problem for men and women today. By opening the nihilistic tradition of western philosophy in which existence has gone to hell, he is trying to open a horizon for understanding existence. Looking at the beginning of the pre-Socratic Western thought, Heidegger wants to open a way to it in the light of the early Greek experience of existence. In this way, he is thinking of overcoming nihilism and preparing a new beginning.
