In the first half of the 1340s, Dr. Mohammad Jaafar Mahjoub and Dr. Qasim Tuysarkani, two very distinguished professors and poets of the highest universities (Tarbiat Moalem University, and the later Khwarazmi University) worked together to analyze and select a worthy selection of ancient Persian poetry, from Rudaki Samarqandi to Hatef Esfahani, provide and make available to students and literary enthusiasts. This selection, which unfortunately was never republished after that, is a must-read book in which a selection of the poet's poems in a thousand-year period, along with detailed research and investigation into the life and works of each poet, is offered to lovers of Iranian poetry and the realm of Iranian culture.

در نیمۀ نخست دهۀ ۱۳۴۰، دکتر محمدجعفر محجوب و دکتر قاسم تویسرکانی، دو استاد بسیار فاضل و شعرپژوه دانشسرای عالی (دانشگاه تربیت معلم، و دانشگاه خوارزمی بعدی) به اتفاق یکدیگر کوشیدند تا تحلیل و منتخبی شایسته از شعر کهن فارسی، از رودکی سمرقندی تا هاتف اصفهانی، فراهم آورند و در دسترس دانشجویان و علاقه‌مندان ادبی قرار دهند. این منتخب، که متأسفانه پس از آن هیچ‌گاه بازنشر نشد، کتاب خواندنی حاضر است که در آن گزیده‌ای از سروده‌های سی‌ویک سراینده در یک دورۀ هزارساله، همراه با تحقیق و تفحص دقیق در زندگی و آثار هر شاعر به دوستداران شعر ایران و قلمرو فرهنگ ایران عرضه می‌شود.
