دکتر محمد جواد مشکور از نسل طلایی دانشمندان چند دانشی سده اخیر ایران و از جمله اساتیدی است که دروس حوزه و دانشگاه را نزد استادان دانشمند زمان خود آموخته است و تحقیقات ارزشمندی درباره تاریخ تمدن و فرهنگ و ادب ایران و اسلام از خود به یادگار گذاشته است. این یادگار نامه - که زیبنده به نام راوی روزگاران شده است از دو بخش مقالات درباره و هدیه به دکتر محمد جواد مشکور شکل گرفته است. مقالاتی که درباره ایشان نوشته شده بر اساس زندگی علمی و فرهنگی و نیز بررسی آثار وی است. مقالات اهدایی نیز بر اساس حوزه های پژوهشی است که دکتر محمد جواد مشکور درباره آن قلم می زده است.
