Looking at the path that the clergy and authority have taken in the late history of Iran and the base and position it has now in Iranian society, we can talk about a crossroads on the path of the clergy: first, accepting to play a role in the form of a civil institution and integrating and participation in the active construction of Iran's thin but evolving civil society; And second, remaining on the legacy of the past and trying to continue playing a role as a dignified group by maintaining the privileges and familiar features in the new world. This is a decisive choice for the institution of the clergy in a society that is transitioning from the previous state to a new era.
