The calendar has become a political tool in contemporary Iran, especially in the years after the victory of the revolution. In these years, the government has tried to create its image and present it to the society through the calendar. An examination of the calendar will acquaint us with this picture. As it appears from examining the calendar of the years after the revolution until now, the mentioned image is based on two foundations; On the one hand, the religious identity, especially the Shia identity, is emphasized, and on the other hand, the events of the contemporary history of Iran, specifically the events after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. The significant increase in the religious occasions of the calendar in the years after the revolution, with the creation of new occasions, reflects the Shiite identity with which the Islamic Republic recognizes itself.
