The world of a play is a collection of texts written for or about the stage. All kinds of plays, whether for performance or simply to be read, including plays adapted from literary or cinematic works, as well as theoretical texts in the field of drama and criticism of dramatic works, are included in this collection. Thomas William Basden (born 1980) is an English comedy actor and writer and a member of the English four-piece sketch group The Cowards. He has written and performed extensively for comedy shows for the BBC and Channel 4 and often collaborates in two-man shows with Cowardly's Tim Kay. Basden was born in Sutton, Greater London. He attended The College School, an independent boys' school in Wimbledon, southwest London, where he collaborated with actors Khaled Abdalla and Ben Barnes in the same year, and then Pembroke College, Cambridge. He was vice president of Footlights Cambridge, and his contemporaries include Stephen Glaszewski, Sara Solmani, Tim Kay (who pretended to be studying for a Ph.D. at Cambridge and was part of the Footlights production), and Dan Stevens.
