The nineteen articles in this book are classified into four general categories: culture and freedom, philosophy and social issues, issues related to socialism, and the issue of intellectuals. The first part talks about cultural policy, the role of culture and tolerance in the growth of democracy, the role of the press, the concept of literary and social innovation, and the process of freedom in African countries. In the second part, there are discussions about Merleau-Ponty, Marx, and Montesquieu. The third part deals with the developments of the socialist block and follows the process of developments in Cuba, China, and the Soviet Union. The fourth part includes two interviews about intellectuals and their relationships with people and powers and ideologies and the issue of identity crisis in them.
