Robertson's "Globalization" theory is one of the newest theories that criticise the problems of massive economical, social, cultural and political of the world in the end of 20th century's decades. The most famous theories are; theory of Imperialist, theory of Affiliation, theory of World's system, theories of Rebuilt and theory of Modernity. Robertson has criticised their failures, not only he reject them, but also he agrees with their results in using them in a right place. And he used these theories to base his famous theory.

نظريه "جهانی شدن" رابرتسون يكی از تازه ترين نظرياتی است كه در تحليل مسائل كلان اقتصادی، اجتماعی، فرهنگی و سياسی جهان در آخرين دهه های سده بيستم بر سر زبان ها افتاده است. از جمله مهمترين آنها نظريه امپرياليسم، نظريه وابستگی، نظريه نظام جهانی، تئوريهای نوسازی و نظريه تجدد. از خصوصيات نظريه رابرتسون اين است كه ضمن نقد نارسائی ها و كاستی های اين تئوری ها آنها را رد نميكند بلكه دستاورد های قابل قبول آنها را در جای معين خود می پذيرد و در پی ريزی نظريه خود بكار می گيرد.
