بين أحلام الصغار “اليرقات” بالسفر إلى القمر وبين أكاذيب الكبار عن كلّ شيء، بين الحقيقة الدامغة والخيال المُشرَع والاختلاف الشائك الذي يعرّض الراوي للنبذ والقهر، تدور أحداث هذه الرواية العجيبة، فالصغار صنعوا المركبة الحقيقية وعملوا بجدّ منذ البداية كي يحقّقوا هذا الحلم الإنساني العظيم.. الصعود إلى القمر، هم شاهدوا الكبار بأمّ عيونهم يصنعون مركبةً من الورق المقوّى وستائر سوداء مرسوم عليها نجوم بطلاءٍ أصفر، كما شاهدوا رَجُلَ فضاءٍ مزيّفًا يسبح على المسرح بواسطة حبال، وليس على القمر حيث تنخفض الجاذبية كثيرًا. لكنّ الجاذبية مرتفعةٌ في هذه الرواية..
