The ten stories collected in this collection are written by writers from African and Asian countries, especially the Middle East, who all share a common language, religion, ritual, and heritage. With all the commonalities, various narratives of the discordant melody of life can be seen in their short stories. Each of the stories is framed like a painting that shows a slice of the bitter and sweet realities of the always difficult human life as well as societies full of contradictions of the people of different lands.

ده داستانی که در این مجموعه گرد آمده، نوشته نویسندگانی است از کشورهای آفریقا و آسیا به ویژه خاورمیانه، که همگان زبان، دین و آیین و میراث های مشترکی دارند. با همه ی اشتراکات، روایت های گوناگونی از نغمه ناساز زندگی در داستانهای کوتاه آنان دیده می شود. هریک از داستان ها مثل تابلویی قاب گرفته است که برشی از واقعیت های تلخ و شیرین زندگی همیشه دشوار انسان و نیز جوامعی آکنده از تناقض مردمان سرزمین های گوناگون را می نمایاند.
