The First World War is the peak period of British intervention and military presence in the southern areas of Iran. The interaction or confrontation with the tribes and nomads of those regions, who now gained a lot of importance and power due to the collapse of the central authority, required knowledge of their current situation. The two reports that are now titled "Nomads of Fars" and "A Report about Nomads of Fars" were written by Captain Arnold Wilson and Captain E. J. Christian and are presented in this collection, they are one of the most important studies conducted to acquire that knowledge and awareness, which have now become an important historical source after more than a century has passed since the date of their compilation.

جنگ جهانی اوّل دورهٔ اوج مداخله و حضور نظامی بریتانیا در حوزه‌های جنوبی ایران است. تعامل یا تقابل با ایلات و عشایر آن حدود که اینک به دلیل فروپاشی اقتدار مرکزی اهمیت و قدرت فراوانی هم یافته بودند، مستلزم آگاهی از حال‌ و روز آن‌ها بود. دو گزارشی که اینک تحت عنوان عشایر فارس و گزارشی دربارهٔ عشایر فارس، به‌ترتیب به قلم کپتین آرنولد ویلسون و کپتین ای. جی. کریسچن در این مجموعه ارائه می‌شوند از مهم‌ترین بررسی‌های صورت گرفته برای کسب آن دانش و آگاهی می‌باشند که اینک با گذشت بیش از یک قرن از تاریخ تدوین آن دو، به یک مأخذ مهمّ تاریخی بدل شده‌اند.
