Machiavelli considered politics to be the supreme art of lying. But politics should be understood as something else: the ability of a society to take control of its destiny, to create a just order and to commit to the good of all. According to Alain Badiou, politics is incommensurate with profession and even with pragmatism. Politics, far from being reduced to managing public affairs, is a universal search for justice and truth. Alain Badiou is a writer, philosopher, former professor at Ecole Normale, and his works are translated and studied all over the world.
