In order to use this site you should have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (or later) browser. This browser supports the proper appearance of the all languages this site support. For searching in "Persian" and "Arabic" sites, you need to have Microsoft Windows Arabic version or Microsoft Windows 2000. For better appearance of the "Arabic" and "Persian" sites, you need to download and install some fonts. Resolution "800*600" brings the best appearance for Ferdosi.com.

Configure Windows 2000 for searching in "Persian" and "Arabic" sites

Please do the following steps to configure your windows 2000 for "Persian" and "Arabic" site.

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Select "Setting" menu item.
  3. Select "Control Panel" menu item
  4. Double click on "Regional Options" icon.
  5. Select "General" tab.
  6. Check the "Arabic" check box in "Language settings for the system". Then click "Ok" button.
  7. If "Arabic" check box has already checked, then leave it as it is.
  8. By coming to "Regional Options" window for second time, select "Input Locales" tab.
  9. Click on the "Add..." button. Then a window is appeared.
  10. Open "Input locale" combo box.
  11. Select "Farsi" item and click "Ok" button.
  12. Do the step 9-11 for "Arabic (Saudi Arabia)" Locale.
  13. Click "Ok" button to close "Regional Options" window.

Now you can change data entry locale from bottom right section of the screen, by choosing "Fa", or "Ar" plus other added locales.

How to install Persian font
  1. First download "Koodb_sf.ttf" font in to a directory (e.g. c:\temp) by clicking on Persian font hyperlink in the Ferdosi.com home page.
  2. Open the Start menu.
  3. Select "Setting".
  4. Select "Control Panel".
  5. Double click on "Fonts" icon.
  6. Fonts window opens.
  7. Select "Install new font..." from "File" menu.
  8. Now "Add Fonts" window is appeared.
  9. Select the path you have downloaded the font into (e.g. c:\temp).
  10. By your correct path selection, "Koodb_sf.ttf" font file is shown in the "List of fonts" list on top of the window.
  11. Select the "Koodb_sf.ttf" font from the list and click "Ok" button.
  12. Close the "Font" window.

How to install Arabic font
  1. First download "simpbdo.ttf" and "simpo.ttf" fonts in to a directory (e.g. c:\temp) by clicking on both "Arabic" font hyperlinks in the site home page.
  2. Open the Start menu.
  3. Select "Setting" menu item.
  4. Select "Control Panel" menu item
  5. Double click on "Fonts" icon.
  6. Fonts window opens.
  7. Select "Install new font..." from "File" menu.
  8. Now "Add Fonts" window is appeared.
  9. Select the path you have downloaded the font into (e.g. c:\temp).
  10. By your correct path selection, "simpbdo.ttf" and "simpo.ttf" font files are shown in the "List of fonts" list on top of the window.
  11. Select the both font from the list and click "Ok" button.
  12. Close the "Font" window.
